ForestEthics volunteer Jolan Bailey questions Royal Dutch Shell's CEO about plans to drill coalbed methane wells in the Sacred Headwaters at the World Energy Congress in Montreal.

Here's the transcript:

Jolan: [You want to drill coalbed methane] wells in the headwaters of three of BC's largest salmon ecosystems and salmon rivers and is opposed by 75% of local residents. I'd like to hear your thoughts on how that is safe and responsible.
Voser: Thanks for the question. As I said in my speech, it needs all the stakeholders to work together and I think Shell we are leading in that aspect to work with local communities, to work with the local issues when we actually start to develop our business there and I can now have a long list of examples where we have done this very successfully. So, as a policy we clearly we work with, in a responsible, in an environmentally efficient way and we do this normally together with our stakeholders and in the area you are mentioning, this should be no different there. I think that is actually take place at this stage as we are engaging.
