ForestEthics Reacts: Enbridge Pipeline is Dividing the Nation - Not "Nation-Building"

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - In response to Canadian Minister of Natural Resources Joe Oliver's comments this morning that the Enbridge pipeline represents a "nation-building" project, Nikki Skuce, Senior Energy Campaigner with ForestEthics, a registered intervenor in the Joint Review Panel process, has this response:

Enbridge's pipeline proposal is dividing the nation, distributing the risk of oil spills unevenly and pitting British Columbians and First Nations against corporate oil interests in Alberta.

The only nation-building this proposed pipeline is doing, is uniting communities and First Nations across British Columbia in fierce opposition. In many ways, Enbridge and the federal government are poisoning the well with respect to future resource development in British Columbia.
